Project Description![]()

This project converted the zoo's original alligator exhibit into a bird aviary featuring parakeets, lorikeets, and other small birds. An original pond and retaining wall were integrated into the exhibit's design. A boardwalk was installed over the pond and the retaining wall was used to anchor supports for a tent-like structure. This supported the fabric mesh to contain the small birds. A small concession/entry hut was constructed in front of the exhibit for visitors to purchase food. A keeper's house was constructed behind the scenes. The exhibit is interactive and visitors walk through the aviary to experience the birds up close. |
